Working with Concrete5

Concrete5 is a free Content Management System platform for creating websites. If you are baffled byConcrete5 Joomla or confused over Wordpress, you'll find Concrete5 fast and easy. You can learn the basics in hours rather than days or weeks.

It is an open source project, which means it is always in the process of evolving. Concrete5 websites can vary from very simple homepages to complex business applications.

If you are here, then you have decided to give Concrete5 a try for yourself and have perhaps purchased one of our Concrete5 themes. This portion of our Help Center will give you some tutorials to get you up to speed quickly.

Downloading Your Theme File

Concrete5 themesOnce you have completed the purchase process through our shopping cart system, you will be directed to a page that has a link to the download file. There are instructions on the page to help you proceed.

You should download your template soon after your purchase is approved. The link only remains active for a short time.

Click on the download link to start the process.
When the File Download box appears, click the Save button. This will open a Save As dialog window.
Save the file to a convenient location on your computer. We recommend saving the file to your desktop. You can always move the file to another location later.

Once your file has been downloaded, continue with the instructions on the screen. You will be directed to a "Thank You" page that also gives you this information plus some further details.

Unzipping the Download File

Double-click on the file you saved to your desktop.
If WinZip is installed, the dialog box will appear. In this interface, you will see the total number of files.

  • Click on the Extract icon.
  • The Extract dialog window will open.
  • Make sure there is a check in the box next to "Use folder names".
  • Click on Desktop.
  • Click on the Extract button.
  • When your files are unzipped, the WinZip interface window will close.
  • On your desktop you will now see a new folder.
